California privacy rights
This notice supplements our Privacy policy and applies to California residents, as required by the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (“CCPA/CPRA”).
Categories of personal information we collect
In the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information, as defined by the CCPA:
- Identifiers — the ZIP code you enter in our rate-comparison form.
- Internet or network activity — pages viewed, links clicked, time on site, and referring URL, collected via cookies and similar technologies.
- Geolocation data — approximate location derived from your IP address or the ZIP code you provide, not precise GPS location.
- Inferences — none beyond standard analytics segmentation (for example, grouping visits by device type or traffic source).
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information (as defined by the CPRA), and we do not collect this information from minors under 16.
Sources of personal information
Directly from you (the ZIP code you submit), and automatically from your browser or device through cookies and similar technologies deployed via Google Tag Manager.
Why we collect it
- To operate this site and route you to relevant rate information.
- To measure and improve site performance and content.
- To measure the effectiveness of any advertising we run.
- To detect and prevent fraud and security incidents.

Our quote-comparison partner (the ZIP code you submit), analytics and advertising technology providers (via Google Tag Manager), and service providers who host or operate this site. See Privacy policy for detail.
“Sale” and “sharing” of personal information
We do not sell personal information for money. However, the advertising cookies described in our Privacy policy may fall within the CPRA’s broader definition of “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out below.
Your CCPA/CPRA rights
As a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we’ve collected about you and why.
- Delete personal information we’ve collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
- Correct inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information (not applicable — we don’t collect it).
- Non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.
How to exercise your rights
Email privacy@vipcarinsurance.net with the subject line “California Privacy Request” and let us know which right you’d like to exercise. We may need to verify your request before acting on it. You can also designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf — we may ask for written proof of that authorization.
Opt out of sale/sharing
To opt out of the sharing described above, email privacy@vipcarinsurance.net with “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” in the subject line, or use your browser’s Global Privacy Control setting, which this site honors where technically supported. You can also block or delete cookies directly in your browser settings.
Shine the Light
California Civil Code Section 1798.83 lets California residents request information about disclosures of personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes. We don’t disclose personal information for third-party direct marketing, so this doesn’t currently apply — contact us if you have questions.
